Big cats “make terrible pets”.

According to Virginia Naples of Northern Illinois University author of “The Other Saber-tooths: Scimitar-tooth Cats of the Western Hemisphere”.

” They’re very hard on the drapes and furniture, not to mention they might kill your kids. If you’re that interested, get a pet from a shelter. You can learn 90 percent of all cat behaviors from a house cat.”

Time to get the cat up off the couch.

This according to the BBC:

Scientists say that some European house mice have developed resistance to the strongest poisons.

German and Spanish mice have rapidly evolved the trait by breeding with an Algerian species from which they have been separate for over a million years.

The researchers say this type of gene transfer between different species is highly unusual and normally found in plants and bacteria.

They are concerned that this rare form of rapid evolution could herald the spread of new generations of rodents resistant to almost any form of chemical pest control.

Updated Website

Some new material up on the website, check it out if you like.

As you can see we haven’t been posting too much to Caterwaul recently, all the birthday postings are on our facebook page (so if you want to see them “like” us on facebook).

On the exhibition front it looks like our long running show in the Bayview will be shortly coming to an end. We’ve decided to take the summer off and will try to launch a new exhibit in the fall. If you know of someone/someplace in San Francisco who would like to host the exhibition let us know as we’re still looking for a location.
